Athletic discus

The Athletic discus is used when performing the discus throw is an event in the track and field competition, it is when as athlete throws a heavy disc called a discus in an attempt to mark a further distance than the other competitors. It is an ancient sport, which goes back to the 5th century BC. Although it was not part of the modern pentathlon it was one of the events at the ancient pentathlon. The discus throw is a routine part of most modern track and field games and is played at all levels, the sport is particularly iconic of the Olympic Games. Only men threw the discus at the Olympic games until 1928 when it was added to the women’s competition, although women had been competing at some national and regional levels previously. The basic motion for throwing the discus is in the movement of the forehand and sidearm. The discus is spun off the index finger or the middle finger of the throwing hand, spinning it clockwise above for a right-handed thrower and vice versa. To ensure maximum momentum is achieved when throwing the discus, the distance that the discus has travelled is determined by the throwers imparts. The technique of throwing the discus can be quite difficult to master and requires lots of practise and experience to get it right.
